The Connecticut Intergroup of Overeaters Anonymous would like to bring our support group to
your attention if you are unfamiliar with us. The OA fellowship, patterned after the 12-Step
program of Alcoholics Anonymous brings together individuals who gather to support each other
while dealing with their common problem of compulsive eating and related eating disorders.
We are not professionals. For many individuals, we are seen as a supplement to their work with
professionals. We treat our problem as a threefold illness – physical, emotional, and spiritual.
There are no requirements for membership, no dues or fees and no weigh-ins. We are not
affiliated with any other organizations, nor are we in competition with any professional services
or weight-loss programs. Our policy of anonymity requires that the identity of individual
members not be revealed at the level of press, radio, television, films, and all public media of
communication.
